The 121st Annual Deuce of August Icelandic Celebration was held July 31-August 2nd, 2020. Each year, a Heritage Program is held in Mountain, North Dakota. This year, the event was held via a LIVE Webinar with limited in-person seating.
This video is the entire 1-hour program with four dignitaries speaking for 16 minutes in the beginning and then a 50-minute presentation by 11 individuals representing the surrounding Icelandic Communities Association (ICA) area.
The video begins with National Anthems from Canada, Iceland, and the USA. Then you will hear greetings from INL Iceland and Snorri Foundation President Hulda Karen Daníelsdóttir, INLUS President Dianne O'Konski, Past USA Ambassador and Canada Honorary Consul Guðmundur Árni Stefánsson, and current USA Ambassador, Bergdís Ellertsdóttir.
The final 50 minutes of the video are filled with information, photos, and stories about North Dakota's rich Icelandic history, events, organizations, and more. We hope you enjoy learning more about the North Dakota Icelandic Settlement and the people who live there today.
